  Excellent subs and sandwiches!! The beef sandwich that comes with the au jus is one of the best I've ever had!

  I had the #7: roasted beef with capocolla and provolone. The sandwich was fresh, crunchy on the outside and soft in the inside. Had a generous amount of beef and other condiments (many free add on). The only reason to not give this place a perfect score is that it was a little pricey. Majority of the items have either roasted beef or turkey so if you love any of those, then this is a must try place.
  
  I would recommend adding hickory sticks in your sandwich for free! It adds extra flavour and crunch.
  
  Tip: The small sandwich is 6" and the large sandwich is 8".

  Big Star is a local franchise with 7 locations in the lower mainland. To be honest I've never heard of them until they arrived in Richmond 3 months ago.
  
  Tucked away behind Canadian tire and Bulk Barn in the Coppersmith plaza, you'll find a hidden gem of a sandwich shop.
  
  I ordered the #7 beef and #8 turkey. Both were delicious. After speaking with the owner a little he told me that the beef is slow roasted for 11 hours and the turkey 7 hours. The meat was tender and moist (turkey was just slightly under seasoned for me, but I like things on the saltier side), the bread was fresh with a nice crust and pillowy interior, and the vegetables were fresh and well proportioned. There is something about shredded lettuce that really makes a sub extra tasty.
  
  Anyway, overall I think Big Star is a good choice for fresh subs especially if you frequent the larger franchises often. This place is a welcome change to Richmond's limited sandwich options. Try them I think you'll be impressed.

  #28 roast beef, bacon and Habanero jack with BBQ sauce, unhealthy combinations but taste really good

  Just opened 3 weeks ago. Friendly staff and great food.  They informed me that the turkey is slow cooked for hours and then hand pulled.  They have their signature bun ( white bread) but I opened for a small #12 corned beef for $12.50 which included a broccoli soup.   This place is very hipster friendly.  Hey it's a sandwich shop with a bit of flair.  As a franchise business I think ....  this place serves up some good grub and value is way better than that Montreal style bagelry nearby.  You actually get some meat!!  As for why I chose this sandwich was because it's rye bread which I can eat without too much problems with the carbs.   I first checked if they had a lettuce wrapped version (aka) carbless version but maybe I'd have to ask next time.  That would be perfect if they offered this so people who can't have the bread can still have a sandwich.  The soup was good.  However me being in this industry in the past, I kinda know the soup.  Still it was hearty and the broccoli chunks made for a nice rustic feel.  I'm giving them 4 stars cause it's pretty good.  Give them a try.  They're located accross from the Bulk Barn and behind Canadian Tire.  Next time I'm having the turkey or the vegetarian version
